BEIJING, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Ten workers at a coal mine in north China's Shanxi province have died since the mine flooded on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday.

The Wangzhuang mine flooded late on Saturday when 82 miners were working underground. A total of 69 miners had been rescued by early Sunday, and another three escaped early on Monday.

Eight pumps were used to lower the flood waters, with around 200 people involved in the rescue operation.

The state-run mine has an annual output of 1.2 million metric tons.

The Chinese coal mining industry remains the world's most dangerous, with up to 7,000 miners killed annually.
