Spanish police arrest 7 child pornography suspects
Police found over 500,000 child pornography files, including 350,000 videos, in a large-scale operation, carried out in regions across the country last week. About 25 hard drives and laptops have been confiscated from the suspects.
The investigation into the case was launched in Catalonia, northeast Spain, in February 2007.
Under Spanish law, the suspects will face up to one year in prison or a fine if found guilty.
The European Union unveiled a new 'Safer Internet' program last February, aimed at both online child pornography and the protection of children using the Internet.
The main goals of the program are to reduce illegal and harmful content online, promote a safer online environment, and to raise public awareness on the issue.
