BRUSSELS, August 4 (RIA Novosti) - A Belgian prisoner escaped from a jail in the northern Belgian city of Ghent and was recaptured a day later on one of the country's North Sea beaches, national media reported on Monday.
The man was apprehended along with his sister and girlfriend, who reportedly helped him to break out.
According to a Ghent police source, the jailbreak was planned beforehand. The man, convicted of drug trafficking and assault, managed to leave the prison's backyard when the gates were opened for a garbage truck.
Just outside the prison's walls, his girlfriend and sister were waiting for him in a car.
