BEIJING, August 9 (RIA Novosti) - A U.S. man was killed and another two people injured on Saturday by a Chinese man who then committed suicide, in an apparently random attack at a popular tourist spot in Beijing, Xinhua news agency said.
The U.S. Olympic Committee said in a statement that the two Americans, a male and female, were relatives "of a coach for the United States Olympic Men's Indoor Volleyball Team." A Chinese tour guide was also injured.
The attack occurred at China's Drum Tower around midday. Xinhua named the assailant, who leapt to his death after the attack, as 47-year-old Tang Yongming from China's Zhejiang Province.
Chinese authorities said an investigation into the murder was underway.
