BEIJING, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - Three people have died and more than 1.3 million have been affected by heavy rains in central China, local media reported Monday.
Torrential rains have lashed Hubei Province since Wednesday, destroying around 1,300 houses and 115 hectares of agricultural lands.
The province has witnessed record levels of precipitation, with over 200 mm falling in the past four days, the Sina news service said.
Preliminary reports say that the poor weather conditions have caused economic losses of $85 million.
Earlier this month, torrential rains brought by tropical storm Kammuri affected vast swathes of southwest China, leaving around 40 people dead.
