CAIRO, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - An Egyptian woman who recently gave birth to seven children after taking fertility drugs told local media on Tuesday that she doubted she and her husband would be able to feed the babies.
The 27-year-old, Ghazala Khamis, from the northern Egyptian province of Beheira, gave birth to four girls and three boys on Saturday in the coastal city of Alexandria. The babies were delivered by Caesarian section.
"My husband is a farmer and earns 20 Egyptian pounds ($4) per day - this is obviously not enough," Khamis, who also has another three daughters, told journalists.
The babies, weighing between 1.4 and 2 kilograms, are in a stable condition. They are currently in incubators and being fed artificial milk.
Local media said the Egyptian authorities had announced that the seven babies would be provided with free milk and diapers for two years.
