MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - At least 14 people have been killed in China's quake-hit Sichuan province after heavy rain caused flash floods and landslides, the country's Xinhua news agency said Friday.
Another 40 people have been reported missing in the city of Mianyang, the agency quoted the local government as saying.
Torrential rains that started Wednesday and the ensuing floods and landslides have destroyed an estimated 42,000 houses.
Damaged roads and utility cables are being repaired, and emergency water supplies and electricity generators are on the way.
The Sichuan province was hit by a massive earthquake on May 12, measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale, the most powerful to hit the region in thirty years. At least 70,000 people were killed and 10 million displaced in the disaster.
