The Kish Island exhibition brought together a large number of Iranian companies active in the sphere of aviation and aerospace, as well as airlines and the other related industries, research institutes and universities. A number of foreign companies were also present.
Russia's Antonov aircraft manufacturing company and Ilyushin Finance aircraft leasing company are displaying a new An-148 regional medium-haul passenger plane at the Iranian air show.
In its basic modification, the An-148 is designed to carry 70-90 passengers up to 5,000 kilometers. It costs an estimated $20 million to produce, which is cheaper than Sukhoi's SuperJet-100 (around $28 million).
In addition, Ilyushin Finance will hold a new round of talks with Iranian customers on the delivery and licensed production of Tu-204-100 medium-haul planes. The successful outcome of the talks would allow Iran to start the licensed assembly of Tu-204s as early as in 2011.
The two countries earlier said they were nearing the end of talks on the project to build 100 210-seat Tu-204 liners in the next 10 years for Iran.
Ilyushin Finance has already signed a contract with the Iran Airtour airline on the delivery of five Tu-204-100 aircraft.
