PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - A Swiss tourist who was missing in Russia's Far East Kamchatka Peninsula for over 24 hours has been rescued, the regional emergencies ministry said on Wednesday.

"Tourist Widner Eric has been discovered some 20 km [12.4 miles] away from his supposed location," a spokesman for the ministry said, adding that the Swiss was in good health.

Eric was reported missing on Monday, when a group of snowmobilers, comprised of three Swiss nationals and four Russians, was crossing a mountain pass about 30 kilometers from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The spokesman reported earlier that the search had been initially hampered by blizzards and adverse weather conditions, adding that the group had not registered either with any of the local tour operators or rescue services.
