NEW DELHI, March 23 (RIA Novosti) - Four people were arrested on Monday in the Indian resort of Goa on charges of assaulting police who tried to break up an unauthorized beach party, a police spokesman told RIA Novosti.
While patrolling Ozran Beach, police discovered an unlicensed party and ordered the music turned off, after which some 150 partygoers began scuffling with the officers.
"When the police gave the order to turn the music off, the Russian DJ attacked them and started throwing bottles at them," the spokesman said.
The police used their night sticks against the party-goers, and arrested the Russian DJ, the Indian organizer, a German and a Swede. Four policemen were injured in the incident.
The foreigners could face up to two years in jail and fines if found guilty of assaulting the police officers.
