13:52 06/04/2009
JAKARTA, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Twenty-four people were killed on Monday as a Fokker 27 military aircraft crashed in Indonesia's province of West Java, regional media reported, citing airport officials.

No reason has been given for the crash, which occurred in Bandung, some 110 km southeast of the capital, Jakarta. Six crewmembers, an instructor and 17 special forces trainees on a parachuting exercise died in the accident. There were no survivors

Unfavorable weather conditions have been cited as a possible reason for the crash by regional media outlets.

It was earlier reported that the plane had come down on a hangar at the Bandung air base.
