MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Moldovan authorities have video footage proving that Romanians were involved in the riots in Chisinau on Tuesday, a senior Moldovan MP said on Thursday.

"We have proof on video of the participation of citizens from the neighboring state in the protests," said Grigory Petrenko, the chairman of the parliamentary foreign relations committee.

"It is not an accident that during the protests in front of the parliament and presidential administration they yelled slogans calling for unification with Romania," he said. "It is not an accident that the Romanian flag was raised on top of the presidential administration building, along with a map of a so-called Greater Romania, and it is not an accident that there was a large number of Romanians participating in the protest."

Protests against the ruling Communist Party's victory in Sunday's elections turned violent on Tuesday, with some 10,000 rioters seizing control of the presidential residence and nearby parliament building. Some 170 police officers and more than 100 civilians were injured in the clashes.
