TBILISI, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian opposition groups protesting against President Mikheil Saakashvili have written a poster-sized resignation letter for him and hung it outside his residence with a huge pen ready for him to sign.
The poster reads: "A statement from Mikheil Saakashvili to the Georgian people - I am leaving my presidential post."
"We have prepared this text for Saakashvili. He may come at any time and sign it," said Bezhan Gunava, a spokesman for the Conservative Party.
Saakashvili's opponents blame him for dragging the country into a war with Russia over South Ossetia last August, resulting in the permanent split from Georgia of the province, along with another rebel republic, Abkhazia. He also faces criticism for failure to carry out democratic reforms promised after the 2003 "Rose Revolution" that brought him to power.
