BRUSSELS, April 27 (RIA Novosti) - The European Union will give Ukraine help to overcome its political and economic crisis, EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana said during a meeting with the 27 EU member-states in Luxembourg on Monday.
Solana did not specify, however, what form the EU assistance would take.
Solana said they had "discussed how they could help Ukraine" before and after the country's presidential elections which are slated for October 25 of this year.
On April 1, Ukraine's parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of presidential elections to be held on October 25, three months ahead of the date Viktor Yushchenko had pushed for.
Yushchenko's popularity ratings have fallen to single figures amid political instability and a shrinking economy.
