A series of bomb explosions that ripped through a bank in the town of Melitopol in southeast Ukraine have left 25 people injured, the country's interior ministry said on Tuesday.

KIEV, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - A series of bomb explosions that ripped through a bank in the town of Melitopol in southeast Ukraine have left 25 people injured, the country's interior ministry said on Tuesday.

According to preliminary information, the blasts hit the building of a local bank at about 07:40 GMT on Tuesday.

Ukraine's emergencies ministry earlier said that 22 people were injured in the blast.

The local newspaper Melitopolsiye Vedomosti reported that two men carrying parcels had been in a branch of the state-owned Oshchadbank prior to the blasts. After the men left the premises, located on the ground floor of a nine-story residential building, three explosions occurred in the bank.

An 18-month-old baby and a seven-year-old child are reported to be among the wounded.

A local administration official said that 22 people, including two children, had been hospitalized. The children are reported to be suffering from shock and are not seriously injured, the official said.
