KABUL, June 11 (RIA Novosti) - Around 60 Taliban militants were killed and more than 20 injured in the past 24 hours in Afghanistan in operations conducted by the national army and ISAF forces.
A three-hour action near Bala Murghab valley, in Baghdis province, was assisted by Italian military with A129 "Mangusta" attack helicopters, the Afghan National Army and ISAF forces said.
During the operation, two helicopters received minor damage as militants opened fire but the operation was continued. At least 25 Taliban gunmen were killed and more than 10 injured.
In Bala Buluk district, in Farah province, 16 Talibans were killed and another 9 injured. Four civilians were wounded during the airstrikes. In Baghlan province, 12 militants and one ANA officer were killed.
Earlier ISAF said a senior militant Mullah Mustafa, who is linked with terrorist attacks against foreign forces, was killed during the operation. However, the U.S. military has not confirmed the report.
Afghanistan's Pajwak News Agency said nine children were killed during the airstrike on Mustafa.
