KIEV, June 18 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian state-controlled arms export-import company Ukrspetsexport said on Thursday it had nothing to do with an arms shipment seized in Nigeria.
Western media reported that an aircraft from Ukraine carrying arms and bound for Equatorial Guinea was intercepted and its crew detained on Wednesday after landing at a northern Nigerian airport.
About 20 crates of arms were found aboard the aircraft when it was searched.
Ukrspetsexport said the shipment originated from Croatia.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is looking into reports regarding the aircraft and its purportedly Ukrainian crew, but has yet to make an official comment.
The jet was stopped at the Aminu Kano International Airport after making an emergency landing due to a technical fault.
Media said the three Ukrainian crew members, including the pilot, were detained.
