Israel has cancelled the results of a tender won by Moscow authorities to build a health resort on the shores of the Dead Sea, a spokeswoman for the Israel Land Administration said

TEL AVIV, June 25 (RIA Novosti) - Israel has cancelled the results of a tender won by Moscow authorities to build a health resort on the shores of the Dead Sea, a spokeswoman for the Israel Land Administration said on Thursday.

Last November, the Moscow city government was declared the winner of a tender to build a $100 million hotel with 240 rooms, two swimming pools, a spa center, a health facility, a conference hall, two restaurants and a helicopter landing pad.

Ortal Tsabar explained that Moscow had failed to make the required payment within 60 days of winning the tender.

"We will soon announce a new tender, in which Moscow can take part," she said.

Moscow promoted its bid as a facility designed primarily for Muscovite tourists, using municipal funds.

During his visit to Moscow last week, Israeli Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov expressed concern that the Moscow authorities had been paying large amounts of compensation to Israel's Land Administration for the stalled project.
