GAZA, July 8 (RIA Novosti) - The Palestinian National Authority's top cleric has issued a fatwa requiring couples to prove they are not suffering from swine flu before getting married, regional media said.
The religious order or fatwa was issued on Tuesday after West Bank health authorities confirmed more swine flu cases, bringing the total caseload to more than 60.
In neighboring Israel, the number has exceeded 600.
"This is our contribution to the fight against the spread of the dangerous epidemic," Chief Justice Tayseer al-Tamimi said in the ruling.
