MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya has called on supporters within the country to rise up against the authorities to help force his reinstatement.
Zelaya, who was overthrown and sent into exile in late June, issued an ultimatum to the coup leaders on Monday, saying unspecified "other measures" would be taken if he was not returned to power.
"The people of Honduras have the right to start an uprising," Zelaya said on Tuesday, adding that people should protest on the streets, hold strikes and carry out acts of civil disobedience when democratic order is overturned.
Negotiations to resolve the president's ouster - which has been condemned across the region and around the world - have produced no result, but another round of talks is planned for Saturday.
No country has recognized Roberto Micheletti, who was sworn in as president after the military arrested Zelaya on June 28, and the two presidents have refused to meet one-on-one, although both had separate meetings with Costa Rican President Oscar Arias.
