CARACAS, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin arrived in Venezuela's capital on Monday to discuss plans for a high-level bilateral commission and President Hugo Chavez's visit to Russia.
Sechin said at a press conference in the Caracas airport he would meet with Venezuelan Vice-President Ramon Carrizales to discuss preparations for the Intergovernmental Committee in St. Petersburg in August and Chavez's visit to Russia. No date has been officially announced for Chavez's visit.
Sechin also said that meetings with Energy and Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez would be held to discuss not only oil and gas, but also plans in the electricity sector.
The deputy prime minister will also visit the largest field of heavy and super-heavy crude oil in the world near the Orinoco River, where he will look at the aspects of creating a national oil consortium to include Russia's Gazprom, Rosneft, LUKOil, TNK-BP and Surgutneftegaz, as well as the Venezuelan company Peroleos de Venezuela.
The oilfield is estimated to have some 235 billion barrels of crude oil.
