HAVANA, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has left for Cuba on an official visit, and will meet with President Raul Castro in Havana, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said on Saturday morning.
Abbas traveled from New York, where on Friday he addressed the United Nations General Assembly, and urged Israel to halt all settlement activity in the West Bank.
The ministry said that during Abbas's two-day visit, he will take part in an "Act of Solidarity" of the Cuban and Palestinian peoples, and meet with top officials.
Abbas will also lay a wreath to Cuban heroes at the Jose Marti Memorial in Havana.
