PITTSBURGH, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - The total number of arrests in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, during the G20 summit that ended Friday has reached 193 people, Pittsburgh Tribune-Preview reported.
Earlier 83 people were reported to have been arrested following clashes between anti-capitalist protestors and police when rocks and garbage bins were thrown at officers, who retaliated with tear gas.
Another 110 demonstrators were arrested in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood on Friday night. The protestors said they demonstrated against police brutality.
City Public Safety Director Mike Huss said the damage demonstrators inflicted upon the city totaled $50,000, adding that a man who smashed windows at a Citizens Bank branch was alone responsible for $20,000.
The Pittsburgh G20 Resistance Project earlier said it targeted about 100 points around the city for pickets on Friday, the last day of the two-day summit that gathered to discuss ways to deal with the global economic crisis.
