MOSCOW, October 15 (RIA Novosti) - The Iranian Embassy in Belarus denied on Thursday claims that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had died.
An embassy official made the announcement in an interview with the national Belta news agency.
Rumors of the 70-year-old Khamenei's death or serious illness began earlier this week and were picked up by a number of media outlets.
Iranian officials in the Islamic Republic have yet to comment on the reports.
Khamenei, who has led Iran since 1989, was also rumored to have died three years ago.
