MOSCOW, November 14 (RIA Novosti) - At least seven people were killed and dozens injured in a train crash in the western Indian state of Rajasthan early on Saturday, local police said.
The Mandore Express travelling from Jodhpur to Delhi veered off the tracks in the town of Bassi after the driver braked suddenly.
The Press Trust of India said that after the train derailed, a portion of the uprooted track smashed through an air conditioned compartment, and may have caused some of the deaths.
India's ageing rail network has a notoriously high fatality rate, with around 300 accidents each year. Last month, 22 people died in a train collision in the country's north.
