A U.S. serviceman was killed in a militant attack on an ISAF convoy in Afghanistan on Tuesday night, bringing the total U.S. losses in the country to 300 this year, the ISAF said on Wednesday.
This year's tally is already twice as high as the 2008 death toll of 155, making it the deadliest year of the eight-year-long U.S.-led military campaign.
October 2009 was the worst month of the campaign for the U.S., with 58 U.S. servicemen killed, more than the total tally for 2004.
The report came shortly after U.S. President Barack Obama announced his decision to increase U.S. troop numbers in Afghanistan by 30,000.
