At least 20 people were killed when two powerful blasts occurred on Tuesday in Pakistan's eastern city of Multan in the Punjab Province, local television reported.

One blast occurred in the Kasim district, and another near the building of the Pakistani security forces, Geo TV said.

Aaj TV said there were women and children among the dead.

Police reportedly cordoned off the building, which was seriously damaged by the blast. Medical personnel rushed to the site, Geo TV said.

On Monday, two terror attacks in the Pakistani cities of Peshawar and Lahore claimed more than 60 lives and left more than 150 people injured.

Taliban militants have struck numerous times in Pakistan in recent weeks, killing hundreds of civilians and soldiers. More than 2,500 people died in the country as the result of terrorist attacks in the past two and a half years.

An army offensive against the insurgents has been underway in western Pakistan since early May. Over 2,000 militants have been reported killed so far.
