Bolivian president begins second term

Bolivian President Evo Morales was sworn in for a second five-year term on Friday in the capital La Paz, the TeleSur TV channel said.
With his left hand held up and his right on his heart, Morales, who won reelection late last year, swore an oath and his deputy handed him the symbolic presidential medal and sash.
Morales is Bolivia's first fully indigenous national leader. Since he came to power, industries including oil-and-gas and transportation, have been nationalized mainly to fund social programs. His Movement for Socialism (MAS) enjoys nearly unanimous support among the poor, rural and indigenous populations.
The day before the swearing in ceremony, Morales, clad in white ethnic llama wool gown, took part at an indigenous swearing-in ceremony at the ancient Kalasasaya Palace at Tiwanaku.
