Protesters in the south Kyrgyz city of Jalal-Abad attacked interim Kyrgyz Interior Minister Bolot Sherniyazov on Saturday and pelted his car with stones, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
Theminister arrived in the region to lead an operation into the arrest of the deposed Kyrgyz President's brother Zhanyshbek Bakiyev.
Two protests were taking place in Jalal-Abad on Saturday - one for police officers, demanding the protection of their rights, and one for the supporters of the county's arrested former Defense Minister.
When Sherniyazov arrived at the central square, where nearly all of the region's police officers were gathered, he was attacked by protesters from the other rally, which mostly consisted of women.
Sherniyazov withdrew immediately from the square.
