A death toll from rain-triggered mudslides in northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 1,434, while some 330 are still missing, Xinhua news agency said.

Official data states that at least 1,250 people were rescued after the mountainous region was devastated by mudslides two weeks ago.

In Gansu, the mudslides tore down entire apartment blocks, and buried houses and streets under deep layers of mud.

On Saturday more than 50,000 people have been evacuated after a swollen river flooded Dandong City in northeastern China.

Heavy rains will continue in northeastern China through Sunday, meteorologists said.
