Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived on Sunday to the city of Dalian, beginning his official visit to China.
He laid a wreath to the monument of Soviet soldiers, killed during the liberation of northeast China. He also visited a cemetery where Russian soldiers, who died in the 1904-1905 war between Russia and Japan, are buried.
The Russian leader, who heads a delegation of prominent Russian businessmen, will discuss cooperation with the region's leaders.
Medvedev will also visit the Dalian Institute of Foreign Languages later in the day.
During a three-day visit, the Russian president will meet with Chinese leader Hu Jintao and other top officials in Beijing and attend the 2010 Expo in Shanghai.
Medvedev and Jintao will also attend a ceremony to launch the Chinese section of the Russian East Siberia - Pacific oil pipeline, stretching from the town of Skovorodino in the Amur region to the city of Daqing in China's northeastern Heilongjiang province.
