Russia, France and Germany plan to encourage Iran to begin full-fledged cooperation, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at talks in Deauville, France, on Tuesday.

"This discussion shows that we look at many issues in the same way. This gives us an opportunity to coordinate our positions and to reach rather specific results," Medvedev told journalists after a summit with the leaders of France and Germany.

The Russian leader said the negotiations focused on regional issues, the Middle East and Iran. Speaking on Iran, he said the sides have "agreed to try to stick to the approaches that were earlier elaborated."

"On the one hand, we should follow the sanctions that have been approved. On the other hand, we should push and impel Iran to cooperate in all the issues," Medvedev said.

The West suspects Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons under the guise of its nuclear program, which Tehran says is aimed at the peaceful generation of civilian energy.
