Crowds of clients seeking to access their accounts continue to mob Egypt's private and state banks, which reopened on January 6 after almost a week of closure, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported on Monday.
Egypt has seen huge protests in its largest cities since January 25, with millions of protestors demanding President Hosni Mubarak step down.
Currently, limitations on cash withdrawal remain in force, with individuals only allowed to withdraw up to $10,000 per day. There are no limitations on non-cash transfers abroad.
Contrary to expectations, the Egyptian pound has only weakened slightly. It is expected that Egypt's banking system will start operating fully again next week.
Financial experts say Egypt has been losing up to 300 million euros each day of the protests, with over a million foreign tourists having left the country.
On Sunday the Association of Russian Tour Operators announced plans to evacuate all Russian tourists from Egypt by February 8.
