A Suez Canal board member on Thursday quashed reports that two Iranian warships had passed through the waterway en route to Syria.
Israel's foreign minister on Wednesday said any transit would be a "provocation."
"No Iranian warships crossed the Suez Canal today," the Suez Canal board member said, adding that there were no Iranian warships on its waiting list for Friday either.
A senior Suez Canal official, who declined to be named, said the two Iranian ships - a MK-5 frigate and a supply vessel - had scrapped the scheduled trips in the face of Israeli concern. No new date was set, he added.
