North Korea said it would fire at South Korean border facilities to stop "psychological warfare" attacks on its territory.

North Korea said it would fire at South Korean border facilities to stop "psychological warfare" attacks on its territory, the South Korea's Yonhap news agency said on Sunday.

Imjingak, a tourist pavilion located just south of the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom, has become a site from which South Korean activists launch balloons which attached anti-Communist leaflets into the North Korean territory.

"If the act of psychological warfare continues, our military will directly shoot at the origins of such slandering against the DPRK, including Imjingak," the agency quoted a North Korean military official as saying.

The warning was issued on the day before South Korea and the U.S. launch a joint military exercise.
