The entire Japanese Cabinet along with the country's prime minister, Naoto Kan, has been dissolved, Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday.

The entire Japanese Cabinet along with the country's prime minister, Naoto Kan, has been dissolved, Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday.

Later on Tuesday, the parliament will elect a new prime minister who will in turn form a new government. The new prime minister will most likely be current Japanese Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda, who on Monday was elected the new head of Japan's ruling party, succeeding outgoing Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) lawmakers on Monday voted 215 out of 395 for Noda, who defeated Trade Minister Banri Kaieda in a run-off after former foreign minister Seiji Maehara was rejected on the first ballot.

Noda said that on Tuesday or Wednesday a new cabinet would be formed. Kan will remain acting prime minister until Noda is officially elected and forms his new cabinet of ministers.

Noda, 54, is known as a fiscal conservative.
