Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker will discuss a bilateral partnership for modernization during a meeting in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi on Tuesday, a Kremlin source has said.

The talks will focus on joint hi-tech, energy and banking projects, as well as on trade and cultural cooperation between the countries, the source said. The agenda of the talks also includes global financial and economic problems.

Trade turnover between Russia and Luxembourg increased by 26,2 percent to $56,6 million in the first half of 2010, year-on-year, the source said. Russia's exports to Luxembourg decreased by 8,9percent to $1,7 million, while imports grew by 27,7 percent to $54,9 million in the same period, he said.

Luxembourg's investment in Russia reportedly stands at $36,4 billion, accounting for 13,7 percent of the country's foreign investment. Russia's investment in the Luxembourgish economy has reached $1,2 billion.

Russia views Luxembourg as a reliable partner, which can contribute to Moscow's constructive dialogue with the EU and NATO, the source said. Cooperation between the countries within the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), as well as other international organizations, helps resolve the most acute international problems and regional crises, including the Middle East, Afghanistan and Iran , he said.

Juncker's visit to Russia will take place on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries in 1935.
