NEW DELHI, May 10 (RIA Novosti) – Search and rescue teams have pulled a survivor from the rubble of the building that collapsed in Bangladesh 17 days after the tragedy occurred, local media report.

The woman, thought to be called Reshma, was found by teams searching the rubble of the Rana Plaza building on Friday, local media cite search and rescue teams as saying.

The eight-storey building in the suburbs of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka collapsed on April 24. Over 3,000 people were working in the building at the time. Over 1,000 people are known to have died in the tragedy.

Preliminary information from the investigation into the collapse suggests that the cause was vibrations from four powerful generators installed in the building against regulations.

The architect of the building told local media that it was designed to house offices, not textile factories.

The building’s owner is one of those arrested over the tragedy.
