MOSCOW, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's government has allocated $300,000 to help North Korea recover from the flood devastation that has ravaged the country in August.

Recent flooding in North Korea killed hundreds of people, displaced some 300,000 and destroyed a sizeable portion of the country's crops.

Sergei Shoigu, head of Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry, said three IL-76 aircraft with humanitarian aid are being prepared to be sent to North Korea.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has charged the government with studying options for a $3 million increase in Russia's annual contribution to the World Food Organization to help North Korea purchase grain.

Currently, Russia's contribution to the WFO totals $11 million, Shoigu said.
